The Wētā Conservation Charitable Trust would like to thank the Otago Polytechnic ADT3 branding class of 2024 for their work on our logo and branding
Wētā Conservation Charitable Trust logo, design by Sophie Broadley – Otago Polytechnic ADT3 branding class of 2024
During the second semester of 2024, Otago Polytechnic students Jenna Peat, Jessica McGeorge, Lucas Reid, Max Challis and Sophie Broadley worked on the Wētā Conservation Charitable Trust’s logo and branding as part of their ADT3 branding class project. The students were supervised by lecturers Taryn Ormsby and Denise Narciso.
Asides from exploring different concepts for the design of logo, branding colours and fonts, the students created a wonderful stop-motion animation movie that now features on our home page. They also designed a clever 3D model of a wētā to be assembled, and went as far as serving eviction notices to tenants around campus to raise awareness on habitat loss. There is nothing like suddenly being kicked out of one’s home that will help us understand what our wildlife must feel like when its habitat is being destroyed.
In the end, we liked Sophie Broadley’s logo concept so much, we decided to adopt it as our Trust’s logo. It now features on all of our documents, and on our website.
On behalf of all trustees of the Wētā Conservation Charitable Trust, a whole-hearted thank you to the Otago Polytechnic students and lecturers for their enthusiasm, skills and professionalism in assisting us in developing the way we present ourselves to the public.
